Milan came on top when the two teams took on each other three days ago in the Serie A derby. The rivals and the venue are the same, but the competition is different. Milan will host Lazio in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semifinal on Wednesday evening at Stadio San Siro hoping to repeat the fine display from the league clash played against the same opposition on Sunday evening.
Biancocelesti have entered the league clash as slight favourites having enjoyed a tremendous run of form over the past couple of weeks. Simone Inzaghi’s men have picked up three straight wins in Serie A netting 13 goals in the process, but Milan’s defensive line managed to limit the Romans to only one goal at the weekend.
We have to mention that the visitors were without their top scorer Ciro Immobile who skipped last two league ties due to a light injury. His condition is questionable and we honestly doubt that the striker will be ready to make an appearance on Wednesday.
Nonetheless, we must praise Milan who have won four of last five matches in all competitions dispatching their bitter rivals Inter on the way to the semifinal of Coppa Italia. Gennaro Gattuso seems to have finally managed to put things in bet at San Siro as Rossoneri finally look like a team capable of doing big things in domestic competitions.
Milan vs Lazio: Head-to-head
Lazio have only extended the poor streak in matches at San Siro where they have only won two times so far (this will be their landmark 30th visit).
Five of last six head to head matches between the two teams saw both sides on target.
Before the mentioned Milan’s win, Lazio clinched a demolishing 4-1 victory in front of the home crowd in the capital when the teams met for the first time in this season.
Milan vs Lazio: Prediction
You can just not make a mistake backing goals at both ends here. Both the head to head tradition and the most recent spell of form suggest such scenario.
As for the outcome, our value is with Milan not to lose at 1.42 since they’ve only lost 2 of 29 home ties with Lazio over the history.
